[February 23, 2012 - Fort Lauderdale, FL] Joan Cartwright has received two honors this month. First, of 30 musical compositions submitted to Donne in Musica in Rome, Italy, for their November-December Donna in Jazz 2012 series, Cartwright's song "The Glory Road" is one of three chosen. Her organization, Women in Jazz South Florida, Inc. is an International Honorary Committee Member of Donne in Musica. Then, Cartwright's paper "Conscious Inclusion of Women Musicians" was accepted to be published and presented at the BAS 2012 Conference May 17-19, 2012, in Timisoara, Romania. As a Doctoral candidate at Northcentral University, in her first year, this opportunity to have her paper published in a foreign country can lead to greater things for Joan and WIJSF, in the future.

A
new jazz series is about to explode on Sistrunk Boulevard in Fort
Lauderdale at the Midtown Commerce Center, featuring members of Women in
Jazz South Florida, Inc. beginning Saturday, April 21, 2012, when
Amazing Musicwomen will pay tribute to women musicians. Then, on May 19,
Jus' Cynthia will perform, followed on June 16, by Renee Fiallos.
